Steelman Power Generation

Proactive Power and Automation’s team completed EPCM services for the installation of a power generation package at Steel Reef’s Steelman Gas Plant, located near the hamlet of Steelman, Saskatchewan. The project removed the dependency of the facility on SaskPower, making it a power island.

Project Scope

Design, procurement and installation of one (1) 6.6 MW 4160 V Taurus 70 Natural Gas Turbine Generator
Installation of a 600 kW Black Start Gas-engine Generator
Provisions for the installation of turbine exhaust Waste Heat Recovery Unit (WHRU)
Installation of capacitor assist motor starters for 2000 HP compressor motors
Fuel gas conditioning, and piping design
Integrated with plant control system, including plant DCS, unit control systems and ESD system
Civil works, design and construction of the turbine generator foundation
Piping, structural steel, piling, foundations, and earthworks
On site commissioning and startup
