Clarke Ellis, P.Eng., P.E., founded Proactive Power & Automation (PPA), a subsidiary of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE), after a successful tenure at GLE starting in 2015. Under his leadership, Clarke has cultivated a dynamic team of Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation professionals, technologists, designers, and drafters at PPA. Clarke and his team have extensive experience in large power plants, renewable energy, specialized instrumentation, and small to large control systems including DCS.

His strong knowledge of project management, project drivers, and client priorities enables the creation of fit-for-purpose solutions for clients, meeting their needs efficiently. Clarke’s group takes projects from inception through detailed design, construction, programming, commissioning, startup, and provides ongoing support for control and communications systems. Clarke is a registered Professional Engineer in several provinces and in the USA, and is a responsible stamping engineer for PPA.

Tim Oldham, P.Eng., is a Senior Project Manager at Proactive Power and Automation, with over 20 years of experience in project management and mechanical engineering, focusing on power generation.

Tim is experienced in turbine-based and gas engine-based power generation systems, from 1 MW to over 100 MW. Tim is a Professional Engineer registered in multiple jurisdictions.

Tom Dietrich, P.Eng., is a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in High Voltage installations. With over 30 years of experience in electrical consulting, Tom has worked across various industries, including utilities, petroleum, mining, chemical, forestry products, and steel.

Tom’s expertise includes designing electrical power systems and substations up to 500 kV, and preparing electrical engineering studies, including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, harmonic analysis, lightning protection, protective device coordination, and power factor correction. Tom is a Professional Engineer in multiple jurisdictions.

Kelly MacKenzie, P.Eng., brings over a decade of industry experience to Proactive Power & Automation, specializing in CO₂ Processing & Sequestration. As a seasoned Process Engineer, Kelly has led numerous high-profile projects, ensuring innovative, efficient, and reliable solutions.

His expertise in process simulations, equipment sizing, and procurement aligns perfectly with PPA’s integrated carbon capture solutions. Kelly’s extensive experience in solvent selection, technology evaluation, compression, dehydration, pipelines, and interfacing with reservoir engineers and geologists ensures smooth project execution.
